You have prescribed medical cannabis and you are planning a trip - a holiday, family, a work assignment. A natural question arises: can I take the medicine with me, and what about airport screening or the border? The answer depends on whether you travel within Poland or abroad.
Below are practical rules. The most important: always carry documents proving this is a legal prescription medicine.
Within the country, carrying legally prescribed medical cannabis for personal use is allowed if you have proof that it is your medicine:
This way, in case of a check, you can easily show that you use the medicine as prescribed by a doctor.
Abroad the situation is completely different and much harder. Each country has its own rules - in many, medical cannabis is banned or heavily restricted, and a Polish prescription guarantees nothing there.
Before you set off, check the rules of the destination country and any transit countries. In some Schengen states it is possible to carry the medicine with the right certificate, but this requires formalities in advance. Do not assume that because the medicine is legal in Poland it will be legal at your destination.
If you have questions about therapy rules, a conversation with our doctor will help.
