Extractum Purum 80% THC - Cannabis Vape Extract: Price, Prescription, How to Use

Until recently, a patient with a medical cannabis prescription left the pharmacy with dried flower and nothing else. Now, in selected pharmacies, there is a second option: extractum purum, a pure, purified extract made for vaporization, most often at 80% THC.

It is the same active substance as in flower, only in a more concentrated, more convenient and more discreet form. Below we explain what extractum purum actually is, how to use it, what it costs and how to get a prescription for it.

What is extractum purum 80% THC

Extractum purum is a compounded medicine - the pharmacist prepares it from a registered pharmaceutical raw material, meaning the same cannabis flower available on prescription. During extraction the cannabinoids (mainly THC) are drawn out of the plant and then purified of chlorophyll, waxes and plant residue.

The result is a thick, resinous substance with a high THC concentration - usually 80%, though 40% variants exist too. The word "purum" (Latin for pure) refers to exactly this purification. The patient receives the extract in a ready cartridge, which clicks into a reusable inhalation device (a vape pen).

Importantly, the amount is not measured in grams of flower but in a fixed, lab-tested THC content. The pharmacy standardizes the product, so you know exactly how much active substance you are taking - a real difference from flower, where potency can vary between batches.

Extractum purum vs flower - the differences

The extract and the flower contain the same cannabinoids, but they differ in form, use and convenience. In short: flower is cheaper per gram and more "raw", the extract is more expensive but cleaner, more efficient and more discreet.

For many patients the deciding factor is exactly this discretion and convenience - a vape pen fits in a pocket, leaves no strong herbal smell and lets you take a dose in seconds. If you are still choosing the form of your therapy, it is worth discussing with the doctor during your first visit.

How to use the vape extract

Extractum purum is used through vaporization - the device heats the extract to a temperature that releases cannabinoids and terpenes without burning it. There is no smoke, only vapor.

  • Click the loaded cartridge into a vape pen compatible with the product.
  • Start with one short inhalation and wait several minutes before judging the effect.
  • Increase the dose gradually, only once you know how your body reacts.
  • Keep notes: how many puffs, at what time, what effect - it helps the doctor fine-tune your therapy.
  • The "start low, go slow" rule matters even more with an 80% extract than with flower, because a single puff delivers more THC. If THC hits too hard, do not panic - it is unpleasant but it passes. We covered this in a separate dosing guide.

    How much extractum purum costs

The price of extractum purum is higher per gram than flower, because of the labour-intensive extraction and purification. But you should look at it differently: thanks to the high 80% THC concentration the product is very efficient, so one cartridge lasts longer than the equivalent amount of flower.

The real cost of therapy depends on the pharmacy, the prescribed amount of THC and how intensively you use the extract. Raw-material prices in pharmacies can differ, so it is always worth comparing a few. You will find a full breakdown of visit and raw-material costs in our guide to therapy prices.

Remember that medical cannabis - including extractum purum - is not reimbursed by the Polish NFZ, so the patient covers the cost themselves.

How to get a prescription for extractum purum

Extractum purum is a prescription medicine - you cannot buy it without a prior medical consultation. The path is the same as for flower:

  • You book a visit (with us, online, in a few minutes).
  • The doctor assesses your situation, treatment history and indications.
  • If the therapy is justified, they issue an e-prescription, on which they can specify the vaporization extract.
  • During the visit it is worth stating directly that you are interested in the extract form rather than flower - the doctor will take this into account when choosing the medicine and dose. We describe it step by step in our guide on how to get a medical cannabis prescription.

    Where to buy extractum purum

As of today, extractum purum is stocked by only some pharmacies - it is a newer and less widespread product than flower. Before you travel with your prescription, call the pharmacy and make sure they will compound the given extract and that they have the right raw material.

We explain how to check the availability of specific products in pharmacies near you in the article on where to buy medical cannabis in pharmacies.

    Safety and contraindications

Extractum purum affects the body the same way as THC from flower, so the same precautions apply. Because of the high concentration it is easier to take too large a dose, so this form is rather for people who already have some experience with therapy or who run it under a doctor's supervision.

Do not drive or operate machinery after taking THC. Interactions with other medicines, contraindications and special situations (pregnancy, heart disease, mental health conditions) are always decided by the doctor during the visit. Frequently asked questions

How does extractum purum differ from flower?

Extractum purum is a purified, concentrated extract (usually 80% THC) for vaporization in a vape pen, with a fixed, standardized THC content. Flower is dried buds of variable potency, vaporized in a separate device. The extract is cleaner, more efficient and more discreet, but more expensive per gram.

How much does extractum purum 80% THC cost?

Do you need a prescription for extractum purum?

Yes. Extractum purum is a compounded medicine dispensed only on prescription. The prescription is issued by a doctor after a consultation, if they decide that medical cannabis therapy is justified in your case.

How do you use the vape extract?

Yes. It is a legal compounded medicine made from a registered pharmaceutical raw material and dispensed on prescription in pharmacies. It is not available outside a prescription and pharmacy.

What is extractum normatum and how does it differ from purum?
