Acupuncture at CannabisMedic is a service in its own right. Not an add-on to a cannabis consultation, but a treatment you can book on its own: 180 PLN, at our Krakow office on ul. Gęsia 22A.
It is performed by Dr Olha Kompaniiets, an internal medicine physician with 25 years of clinical experience and a certified medical acupuncturist. Below: how the appointment works, when needles make sense, how many sessions are usually needed and what acupuncture will not do.
Olha Kompaniiets (licence no. 3706147) is an internal medicine doctor with 25 years of clinical practice. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are part of her formal training, not a side interest. Her day-to-day focus is chronic pain, hormonal and metabolic disorders, and support in reducing stress. Patients rate her 5 out of 5 in more than 115 reviews.
That distinction matters in practice: a physician performs the treatment, so before any needle touches your skin someone takes your medical history and asks about medication, coexisting conditions and past injuries. If acupuncture is not the right step in your case, you will hear that on the spot.
She sees patients in Polish, Ukrainian and English. Outside CannabisMedic she also provides manual therapy and physiotherapy at the Balance Med practice on ul. Gęsia 22A in Krakow.

Acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles at selected points on the body. Patients most often come to us with:
One honest caveat: acupuncture does not replace diagnosis. If pain is new, escalating quickly or comes with red flags such as limb weakness, weight loss or fever, the first step is finding the cause, not easing the symptom.
1. Conversation. What hurts, since when, what you have already tried, what you take regularly. This is not paperwork - it determines the choice of points.
2. Assessment. A short examination of the area you describe. Sometimes the source of tension turns out to sit somewhere other than where it hurts.
3. Insertion. Needles are single-use, sterile and much thinner than an injection needle. Insertion takes a second.
4. Rest. The needles stay in place for a dozen or so minutes. You lie still and do nothing.
5. Finish. The needles come out, you get short instructions for the next few hours and we decide whether another session is needed.
Most patients describe the sensation as dull warmth or a spreading tingle. It requires no anaesthesia and does not write off the rest of your day.
There is no single answer and we will not pretend otherwise. For fresh muscular tension one or two visits can be enough. For complaints that have dragged on for months, a series is usually planned and reviewed after a few sessions.
The rule we work by: if a series brings no change at all, pushing on makes no sense. We will say so plainly and look for another route rather than sell you more appointments.
The doctor sets the intervals. Sessions tend to be closer together at first, then progressively rarer, until either maintenance visits or discharge.

Acupuncture is safe, but not for everyone at every moment. Tell the doctor if you:
None of these automatically means a refusal. Several of them simply change the choice of points or the intensity of the session. Needles are single-use and disposed of in front of you.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Insertion usually feels like a brief prick or dull warmth. The needles are far thinner than injection needles. Pain that persists after a needle is in place is a signal to speak up - the point can be adjusted.
How long does the appointment take?
The slot is booked as a 15-minute window. The time with needles in place depends on what we are working on.
Will I get a medical cannabis prescription at an acupuncture session?
No. That is a separate service. If you want treatment and a consultation with a possible prescription in one visit, choose the Comprehensive Holistic Therapy Package. Cannabis qualification alone is handled as a first consultation.
Can I combine acupuncture with medical cannabis therapy?
Yes, that is common among our patients. Tell the doctor which preparations and doses you use.
How should I prepare?
Eat something light beforehand, wear clothing that lets you uncover the treated area, and do not plan intense exercise straight after. No alcohol before the session.
Is it done by a doctor or a therapist?
At CannabisMedic acupuncture is performed by a physician, after a medical interview.
